Once in Dallas, they city offers numerous taxi, bus and rail services to take you anywhere in or around town. Most major Texas cities are a short four-hour drive or less from Dallas.
Dallas is also a handicapped-accessible city with all attractions, restaurants, shopping centers, museums and cultural centers having handicapped parking spaces and ramps and elevators for wheel chairs. Most private taxi and transportation companies will dispatch handicapped-accessible cars or vans upon request and DART has an entire fleet of handicapped-accessible buses and vans that provide scheduled or special service by reservation. DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) gives locals and visitors nearly 45 miles of light rail and 130 routes by bus transit. They provide reliable transportation to locations throughout the city including the Dallas Convention Center, hotels, and destinations that feature shopping, restaurants, and attractions.
Visitors can also enjoy neighboring counties, including Fort Worth, via a connector to Trinity Railway Express. Expansion to locations throughout the metro area is planned to include full service to Fair Park by 2009, additional service to downtown Dallas by 2010 and DFW International Airport by 2013.
